Nan Carr is a well-rounded IP attorney. She counsels clients for their needs on patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret protection. Using her broad spectrum of IP experience, Nan has involved in developing or assessing client’s intellectual property strategy. She strives to understand the client’s business model, technology, products, competitors, market activity, opportunities for growth, existing IP portfolio, and more to help clients develop and protect their IP rights.
Nan holds graduate degrees for universities in both China and US. Nan started her career in the field of intellectual property in 2005 as a technical adviser in a well-known IP law firm. Over the years, Nan expanded her scope of expertise from patent preparation and prosecution, to patent opinions, IP licensing and agreement, trademark and copyright practice, brand protection, PTAB and TTAB practice, pre-litigation support, and IP due diligence. As a native Chinese speaker, Nan regularly counsels Chinese clients who are seeking IP protection in the U.S. as well as domestic clients who are expanding their business in China.
Nan’s patent practice focuses in the field of semiconductor technologies, integrated circuits, oil and gas, robotics, communications, Internet of Things, and industrial products. She works with all types of clients, from large international corporations to local startups. She enjoys her daily exposure to innovative ideas and gains a sense of accomplishment from helping her clients protect these ideas.
Nan handles trademark issues for clients with a global presence, local startup clients, and pro bono clients. For clients with a global presence, Nan partners with a network of foreign agents to provide services on trademark filing, infringement watch, and enforcement in the US and abroad. For local startup clients, Nan provides consultation at early stage to identify trademark protection along with patent and copyright protections. Nan is an active member in International Trademark Association, wherein she is actively involved in providing pro bono work to individuals or non-profit organizations that need assistance.
